Build Something That Outlives You
Legacy is more than an inheritance
Money passed to people who were never taught to steward it rarely survives. Wisdom passed to people with nothing to steward has limited effect. Legacy is both, transferred together.
The families who hold wealth across generations are usually the families who talk about money openly and early.
The conversations most families avoid
Who knows where the important documents are. What happens if the main earner cannot work. What the family believes about giving, lending and supporting relatives. What the children are being taught, deliberately or by observation.
Silence on these topics is itself a lesson, and usually not the one intended.
Documents are an act of care
An up-to-date will, clear beneficiary details and a record of accounts and policies remove enormous strain from people who will already be grieving.
This is not morbid planning. It is the last practical kindness you can arrange in advance.
Teaching the next generation
Children learn money mostly by watching. They notice how decisions are discussed, whether stress is hidden, whether generosity is planned or impulsive.
Let them see the deciding, not just the spending. That is the inheritance that compounds.
